For Sale 1941 GE Model L-631 'Mirror Dial' Table Radio

Here we have a beautiful 1941 GE model L-631 table radio. This highly desirable set features a gorgeous walnut cabinet, stunning slide rule mirror dial, loop antenna, and excellent performance on the AM broadcast band.

Cabinet: The dark walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The round pillared sides, and inset front, really sets this radio apart from other table models. Everything comes together magnificently with the mirror dial which is quite a sight to behold. A large grill area and pinstripe inlays finish this beauty off with the utmost elegance and style. This stunning set is sure to be the topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial/Knobs: The lighted slide rule mirror dial is a real ‘eye catcher’. It features an array of colors from red to white to black. The mirror background creates wonderful reflections. Quite a sight to behold. All letters and numbers indicating station frequencies are legible and show little signs of wear. Both knobs are in excellent condition and work as they should; on/off & volume and tuning. Behind each knob are toggle switches for tone control and band switch.

Electronics/Chassis: The 5 tube chassis has been electronically restored and plays great. All caps, filters, and resistors have been checked and replaced as needed. All tubes have been tested and brittle wires replaced. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimal performance. I‘m able to pick up many stations, near and far, on the AM broadcast band with plenty of volume and good tone. The set also features a limited SW band. I was able to pick up few SW stations at night with an external antenna.

Antique Radio Restorations

All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The cabinet is finished off with a three step polishing process ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into these radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office.

All of our radio's chassis' are electronically restored. All caps, filters, and resistors are checked and replaced as needed. All tubes are tested and brittle wires replaced. The chassis is cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimal performance. 30 day warranties are included on the tubes, caps and filters.
